St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church

We believe that Jesus Christ came to the world to save lost sinners. We believe that we are all lost sinners until we accept Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. We believe we are saved forever by repenting our sins and publically confessing

Him as Lord and Savior.  After repentance Christ comes into our hearts, forgives our sin, and saves our soul.  Believing in Jesus Christ as savior, we then become children of God John 3:16-18; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 10:43; John 1:12; 1 Timothy 1:15;Mark 1:15
Baptism is the first of the two church ordinances.  Baptism, according to Romans 6:3, is a burial and resurrection.  We are
buried with Christ in the likeness of His death, and we are raised with Christ in the likeness of His resurrection.

Baptism portrays three things:

     1.  It portrays the death, burial and resurrection
          of Jesus Christ.
     2.  It portrays our death to sin and our
          resurrection to a new life.
     3.  It proclaims our faith.  Our faith is that if we die and are buried, we shall be

raised from the dead by the power of the Lord and live eternally in heaven.
The second ordinance of the church is the Lord’s Supper.  It was instituted by our Lord the night in which he was betrayed
and delivered to die for our sins on the cross. We are not saved by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. It is a memorial of the death of Jesus Christ, that we may always remember His sacrifice for us.  A person who has trusted Jesus as their savior and has been baptized may partake of the Lord’s Supper.  The order of doing things in the proper manner is given by Jesus in Matthew 28: 19, 20.   First, we must trust in Jesus as our Savior. Secondly, we are to bebaptized.  Thirdly, we are to observe the things Christ has given us to keep, one of which is the Lord’s Supper.
The church is not the building in which we meet.  The church is a group or a body of baptized believers who meet together
for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, observing the ordinances, and fellow shipping the love of Jesus.

The church was founded by Jesus.  The word church means to be called out.
Matthew 16:18
We believe God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and that all three are one God
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That He lived a sinless life.   We believe that He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.  We believe He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the heavenly father.  Matthew 1:21
